its old news in malaysia.. petrol price has gone up to RM2.70 per litre.. generally, its not about high increase.. but the manner in which it was announced.. the announcement came out in the wednesday afternoon, and was effective in midnight.. which give the rakyat a grace period of ONLY few hours.. i myself known about it late in the evening which give me a lest than 6 hours to embrace the price hike.. *sigh*
this is my observation.. like it or not.. the rakyat is divided to the high-income, middle-income and low-income.. the first group will definitely NOT feel any problem with the hike.. it is either they can afford it or their company pays for their fuel consumption..
the 2nd group (i think i belong to this..) will feel the pinch a bit.. more if they are frequent traveller.. this group will either change their lifestyle (as suggested by the government) or continue as it is.. it all depends on how much their expenditure will be effected with the new petrol price..
the last group will feel the pinch a lot worst.. for example, in the governement they are in the support group staff.. the minimum gross pay is RM1222.51 (including allowances).. you be the judge.. and i know there are people who earn much less than this..
the assumption is, with the fuel hike the others will follow.. its like a chain reactions.. soon, everything will increase.. the bus fares.. even the price of warm water at mamak stall..
but how will it effect relationship? case in hand.. on thursday (the day after the fuel price increase was announce) one of my staff came to see me.. she wanted my advice on possible transfer to putrajaya.. the reason is her husband is working there and currently they are using 2 cars to go to work.. and since the announcement, her husband has been complaining about it and has asked her to transfer to putrajaya.. if we are not to transfer her, i can see that she’ll be having arguments with her husband everyday..
and its not just about my staff.. i can see that lots of transfer applications will arrive at my desk and the applicants might also come personally to see me for it.. and i am sure i will not be able to say yes to all of them.. and trust me, tears will definitely flowing.. *sigh*sigh*
anyway.. life goes on.. i just really hope that the government will seriously and intelligently think of something to help the rakyat.. especially the low-income group..
p/s: and how about those petronas emplyees getting months of bonus every year? most of them are highly-paid already.. cant petronas channelled SOME of that extra money (NOT including the tax they paid to the government) for the well-being of the common rakyat?
